Welcome
Sue Mussell was born in the county of Kent in England. Her mother was Ellen Louisa Holdoway (nee Ellen Edwards). It was only when Sue was researching her family tree that she discovered that she was related to the famous potter James Edwards, being a ggg granddaughter becoming interested in him and his history. Sue's researches have taken her to numerous archives in the UK and to the USA.
Having amassed a wealth of information, greatly supplemented by fellow enthusiasts from the White Ironstone China Association in the USA, Sue decided to create this web site to bring the man and his works to a wider audience.
Strangely, although highly regarded in the USA, James Edwards is almost unknown in the UK and does not feature at all in museums or local history societies in the district of Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire where he worked. His wares were destined solely for the US and Canada.
Sue lives in Norfolk, England with her husband Derek;they have two adult children and are proud grandparents to their two granddaughters.
